"In The Box"

Ed Kurno Biography

Stick a pin in the map of the world and chances are house king ED KURNO has been there.
The globe-trotting DJ supremo has mashed it up in Moscow, dropped the beat in Bahrain, had it large in Luxembourg and become more a regular feature in Ibiza than a gurning and sun-burned Brit, And that’s before you even namedrop the likes of white-hot nights behind the decks of superclubs Miss Moneypennys and Pacha in good ol' Blighty.

He’s rubbed shoulders with the likes of Judge Jules, Eric Prydz, Danny Rampling and The Prodigy en-route to having his passport stamped more than an oversized parcel. Quite simply laydees and gentlemen, Ed Kurno is the soundtrack to your weekend. Bursting out of not-so-sunny South Wales in the early noughties, the half Chilean half British DJ soon caught clubbers hot and bothered – displaying the kind of mixing skills most cake-makers would kill for. From his residency slots to at Escape in his hometown in Swansea to getting the par-tay started in front of thousands at Escape In The Park – hard-working Kurno approaches every gig with the same fevered intensity.

But while clubbers have got to know him for his ballistic performances in the booth, the man has also won friends and influenced people for his producing skills. His two albums Xelectra as well as Beats and Basslines were the kind of records that the maximum volume button was made for, and soon lapped up by critics. He’s also worked with the likes of Abigail Bailey (Toolroom, Cr2 Records), Jorge Jaramillio (lectrochik Records), Ted Nilsson (Miss Moneypennys) and Hamama Dove.

Following, his performance at the Quartz Festival in Norway, he joined forces with partner in crime Sean Carros to form THE BEAT AGENTS – with the fruit of their labour soon to be ringing in your ears, and if that wasn’t enough, Kurno plans to bring budding DJ’s up to speed with a new

dance music workshop in the coming months as well as setting up his new brand - Stinking Sexy.

He says: “Stinking Sexy is taking parties back to the roots of clubbing. Offering people a fun, exciting experience each time they turn up for a party.  They key ingredients Music - People - Good times' “2010 will be exciting year, with many releases in the pipeline, Jim Shaft Ryan on Overdrive (co produced with Abigail Bailey). “And then I’ll continue touring across the globe.

“Last year was off the hook – playing to 3,500 people in South Africa for New Years Eve was unforgettable. The venue was awesome, and when I opened my set with going 'In For The Kill' (the Ted Nilsson remix) the place blew up!!!   “Sweaty and dirty just how I like it.

“Nothing fancy, just people and house music the perfect combination!”
